Hello. We are Scent & Violet,

Scent & Violet – Flowers, Plants and Gifts is in the business of making people happy and helping people express their feelings through the beauty of flowers.

We are a small West-SW Houston neighborhood flower store
located close to Alief, Westside, Westchase, and the Energy Corridor. However, we deliver our flowers and gifts to most parts of the Houston-Richmond-Katy-Sugar Land area. Our shop is in the neighborhood we live in, and we are always more than happy to discuss our local eateries and recommend other small and valuable businesses in our area.

Since opening our store in 2014, our business model has been about building relationships: relationships with our customers, our neighbors, and our vendors. We owe most of our success to them. They have been our teachers, our promoters, and our most valuable advisers. The majority of our business is from repeat customers and word-of-mouth referrals, and it feels great being able to develop relationships with people over the years.

While Scent & Violet specializes in everyday floral designs and life’s important occasions, events (both weddings and corporate) have become an important part of our culture.

Our design style is constantly evolving and morphing. We strongly believe that style in itself should be dynamic. While our design style is mostly based on a European garden design with a modern twist, we love bringing in elements of Asian, South American, and African floral schools of design (come to think of it, we should probably call our style Houstonian – diverse in color, style, and taste, just like Houston).

Being uniquely situated between the Energy Corridor and Westchase, we also enjoy serving our corporate clients with beautiful displays for their offices and corporate events.

Our plant shop and gift lines keep growing two-fold. Some of our products were brought in at the request of our customers, while some we insisted on bringing in because we wanted to introduce more local growers, small makers, locally owned businesses, and Made in Texas / USA products.

For us, gifting was never about the size of the gift, but the size of the gesture. Sending flowers to surprise someone, sending a thoughtful package to a friend who is going through heartache, giving someone a card to elevate their mood, sending a sympathy plant to a funeral home, or picking up a single rose from our flower market collection to surprise a loved one – all of these are really wonderful ways to let someone know you love them, think of them, and care about them. Therefore, Scent & Violet's selection of flowers and gifts encompasses all price points, regardless of whether you're shopping for luxury flowers or looking for the least expensive flowers.

Our team keeps growing and evolving, but nothing changes much in our shop. We design flower arrangements and deliver them, we track the wild Texas weather, spend an insane amount of time talking about food, love singing inside our flower cooler (10 times better than a shower), we watch dramas, read gossip magazines, laugh off the daily hassles, and share our lives on social media. We work with local businesses, navigate the Westheimer traffic, and talk about going to Galveston beaches one of these days.

We are human, constantly learning and evolving – just like our designs.

Like most Houstonians, we divide our lives into pre- and post-Harvey, keeping a watchful eye on the sky whenever it rains hard. Now, we have added a post-pandemic phase to our list, a post-freeze phase, an electrical grid failure phase… As with most small businesses in our area, we've faced our fair share of major local challenges over the years. Yet, through it all, we are proud to say we are still standing. We are resilient, we are determined, and we will always fight hard to survive, thrive, and serve in our community.
